From Princesses and dragons to fairy god mothers and knights in shining amour, fairytale fancy dress is one the most exciting and funny parties to have with your guests. And just because the theme is make believe doesn’t mean your children have to be invited, an adult party makes it even more silly and means of course that the alcohol can be unlimited.

Invitations are at best when they are personalized and as well as being fun to make, it means that the host is always involved right from the start. There are a number of greeting card sites online which provide invitations that are ready to print and once printed why not cut them out in themed shapes or add bits and bobs to make them interesting and therefore the guests will be interested too.

About a week before the party is due, it is time to buy your party supplies, food, alcohol, party decoration and various party products. The party decoration can be themed into your fairytale subject with ribbon, lace, pink, glitter, silver metal trays, gold and silver balloons and even princess hats scattered about the food tables with trails of chocolates and fairy dust.

Food wise it would be a good idea to first get a feel of what your guests tastes are and their many likes/dislikes, but in general some good advice is to be safe with your choices. Sandwiches, crisps, chocolate, fruit, veg such as carrots, cucumber sticks with dips and bread, cakes and biscuits are always among the favorites and as this is the kind of food that most visitors expect at a party, the guests who do not like it will of course (we hope) come prepared.

A nice idea would be to scatter round disposable cameras to allow the party guests to take pictures of whatever they like and hand them in at the end of the night so you have a huge range to look at when they are developed. This way you won’t miss out on anything going on and will get to see guests costume and antics in more detail after the alcohol has worn off!

Alcohol is best provided in the form of fruit punches and cocktails rather than pure bottles this way it encourages a guest to take a glass and take time to drink the contents rather than having shots of pure spirits whilst next to the alcohol table. This is better for security and safety reasons too.
