This year’s statement Footwears are a real treat for those of us with a passion for footwear. They are colourful, fringed, ruffled, embellished and even feathered. A ridiculously high pair of heels is a must and platforms are back!High boots Click on image to view large
Knee or thigh boots are still on trend, styled with round or tapering toes and made in fabrics from lace to silk. They look fantastic with jeans or paired with a mini-dress with patterned tights or over knee socks.
Shoots

This combination of Footwear and boot is extremely flattering and versatile and you can wear them with just about anything you like. ‘Shoots’ can be found in as comfortable or complicated a style as you can imagine this year and are a big favourite. Look out for the cut out, open toe, strapped and cage styles, which have been seen all over the catwalks and – as with all Footwears this year – don’t be afraid of a bit of colour.
Lace pumps

Lace is big for 2010 and it’s so pretty on pumps. Many of these designs include a hidden platform and are super-glam. However, heels like these are not for the faint hearted!
Platform sandals

The ultimate heels for 2010, high-heeled platform sandals have been all over the Spring/Summer catwalks. Platforms make them slightly more comfortable than straight heels but they are certainly for the true Footwear lover. On the high street, bright colours like cherry red and yellow will be the most cheerful choice for spring.
Mary Janes

Perfect for the office, last year’s sophisticated Mary Jane Footwears will continue to grace our feet in 2010 but there is a cheekier twist this year with the addition of retro peep-toe designs.
Flat thong sandals/gladiators

Thank goodness, some easy to wear versatile flats. Flat thong sandals are perfect summer wear and they can be as casual or dressy as you like. You can wear them with most outfits and in a huge variety of colours and style. Gladiators give a more edgy look.

Ever been stumped by what shoes to wear to a winter wedding? How about how to find shoes that can handle a slightly muddy spring ceremony in the park? We’ve all been there. Finding the right shoes for the season is hard enough; finding the right bridal shoes for every season can be quite the conundrum. Luckily, with the amount of variety out there, with a little luck (and some style suggestions), you’re sure to find the shoe that is right for your season.
Summer Bridal Shoes
Let’s start with the hottest season of all, summer. Summer weddings often mean heat and humidity, so it’s important to wear shoes that can keep your feet cool come heat or high water. For this reason, peep toe heels are the way to go. They’re just as classy as their closed toed sisters, but they’re also more seasonally appropriate. Plus, peep toe shoes show off your pedicure!
Summer is also a season during which it’s totally acceptable to don sandals – flat or heeled, this form of footwear keeps your feet cool and is still classy enough for a wedding. Note: this includes brides as well, not just bridesmaids! White sandals are great for summer, especially for weddings that take place before Labor Day. You can also flirt with color during the warmer months, as well as try florals! The warm weather offers a sense of being footloose and fancy free; don’t be afraid to let this influence your footwear decisions! Sandals in just about any color of the rainbow are perfect for summer weddings, as are peep toe or open toed shoes.
Beach weddings are also prevalent come summer, and these are the perfect occasion to add some glitz and glam to your wedding ensemble. Try gold shoes instead of the average white – you’ll be surprised at how much they jazz up your outfit.
Fall Bridal Shoes
With the arrival of fall comes the cooler, crisper, air, so it’s best to put away summer’s sandals once the leaves start to turn. Gold shoes can still be worn, as gold is an integral color in the autumn spectrum, but it’s best to put the stark white shoes away. As they say, no white after Labor Day! While it’s tempting to don white shoes to match your white dress, consider burnished bronze options. Even black shoes can work (though black shoes work best in the winter). As with gold, bronze is an important color for fall, and it’s ideal to match the color scheme of your ensemble to the season during which your wedding is taking place.
All metallic shoes work well in fall, but if you’re having trouble choosing, bronze is better than gold, and silver is out. Silver is a wintery color, reminiscent of snow, while bronze evokes the sun-dappled leaves of the autumn season. You can also try more muted colors if you’re looking to inject a bit of spice into your dress routine. Consider a thicker heel and a more significant shoe than the whimsical counterparts of summer shoes.
Winter Bridal Shoes
Winter weddings evoke a serious sense of romance that you can’t find during any other season. The season is guaranteed to make any bride feel like a queen, with the snow-covered hills and sparkly streets. To match this romance, go with silver shoes – strappy, peep toe – anything will do, so long as it’s the color of snow. White can work for winter, but silver is the best way to compliment the colors of the season.
Close toed pumps are recommended simply so that your toes do not freeze; flats can also be sweet, especially for brides who don’t need the extra height or have difficulty walking in heels. More substantial designs, like those mentioned in the fall bridal shoes section above, are encouraged. Instead of going for the strappy sandal-like styles of spring and summer, swing for something with a bit more heft. A peep toe pump with a bow is both seasonally appropriate and perfectly romantic.
Spring Bridal Shoes
Come spring, all the snow and the ice has melted and bridal season is almost in full swing. Brides blessed with a spring wedding date are treated to perfect weather (not too hot, not too cold) and the opportunity to try the daring floral patterns offered by many of today’s top bridal retailers. Spring is also a great time to try dying your favorite shoe to match your dress, whether it be a bright yellow bridesmaid’s frock or a bride’s blush pink gown. The warmer weather of the season means that it’s once again appropriate to don strappy shoes. If the bright colors and florals seem too like too much, consider a champagne colored shoe. Such heels look especially pretty in satin.
You now see that it’s simple to find bridal shoes for any season! When shopping, consider both the appropriate colors and the appropriate styles – before you know it, you’ll be walking down the aisle in the most perfect bridal footwear imaginable.

Ecco has a simple philosophy: The shoes must follow the foot.
When you wear a pair of shoes that allow the foot to lead, it can change the way your body feels, acts and responds. These shoes can improve your posture, even when you’re standing still.
In 1963, Karl Toosbuy sold his car and home and moved to Bredebro, Denmark, where he opened his first factory for his new company, Ecco Sko A/S (later renamed Ecco). Early work focused on flexible durable soles for incomparable comfort. By the late 1990s, the company began offering men’s and women’s shoes. By 2000, Ecco’s single-largest market was the United States, where today it goes head to head against shoe giants Nike, Reebok and Adidas.
The company calls its products “physiological footwear.” Because of their design, these shoes can activate body support and postural muscles so you walk more upright and get an enhanced workout. Instead of making the foot mold to the shoe, Ecco builds its shoes to follow the normal form and function of feet. Response to the 56-year-old company has been positive. Today it is one of the top shoe companies in the world and is one of the leaders in the field of comfortable footwear.
One of Ecco’s most popular lines is its MBT footwear – which stands for Masai Barefoot Technology. When explaining the process, Ecco suggests you remember the feeling of walking barefoot across a natural surface. There’s nothing smooth about a grassy surface as it usually has more “give” than a concrete surface. Walking across these variations in the surface can cause you to constantly shift your stance, so your foot stretches more, your gait changes and your posture improves.
Basically, MBT technology allows us to walk the way our ancestors walked back before the day of shoes. It also:
Ecco’s line of sport shoes – MBT footwear – jump-started Ecco in the footwear business. These shoes come in athletic styles, boots, casual shoes, clogs, sandals and dress shoes for men and women. They are all made using Masai Barefoot Technology.
Whit so many comfortable and stylish shoes to choose from, Ecco makes fashionable footwear fun again!

Kitten heels are not the most flattering of styles but they are set to offer our poor feet a rest from the gorgeous yet impractical heels that we have become accustomed to over the last few months. It’s true that higher heels lengthen the leg and can contribute to a slimmer silhouette but there are ways to wear kitten heels and retain some of the glamour provided by their higher cousins. Models Direct suggest going for a minimalist style this spring, always with a pointed toe and paired with clothing that is inspired by the 50s and 60s. If you follow these guidelines you will find that the kitten heel can be a sophisticated and more comfortable alternative to the much loved high heel.
