Younger Looking Hands

June 16th, 2010 by admin

A primed up face isn’t enough to make people go wondering about your age, because people do like to sneak a peek at your hands to determine your hands. So the next time you want to look younger, do remember to pay attention to your hands as well. A few precautions are all that’s needed to keep you hands looking younger forever, here’s how.

Keep them moisturized

Washing your hands too often causes the skin on your hands to dry out and become cracked. So look for a hand wash which contains a moisturizer, as this type of a hand wash causes less dryness. Next, keep a body lotion or moisturizer next to the hand wash dispenser, and rub in a drop of it after every hand wash, but before wiping your hands dry with a towel. And finally before you hit the sac, just dab on a generous amount of moisturizer on to your hands and massage it well into the skin.

Protect them against the sun

Before you step out in the sun, be sure to put on some sunscreen on your hands, to retard the development of wrinkles and sunspots on the skin. Just like your face skin, the skin of your hands suffers immense sun damage, in the absence of a sunscreen, which causes your hands to start looking older too soon.

Extra care

There are lots of specially formulated hand creams, fortified with vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants, which help in preventing the formation of wrinkles on the skin of your hands. You might want to think about using the anti-ageing face cream on your hands, but it’s always advisable to get the anti-ageing cream that’s specifically meant for your hands, as the anti-ageing face cream may not be able to properly penetrate the thicker skin on your hands.

Take precautionary measures to protect the skin on your hands. For example, wear rubber gloves when cleaning or doing the dishes. If you’re gardening, be sure to use special gardening gloves.Avoid leaving your hands exposed to the elements. When it starts to get cold, wear gloves. If it’s just slightly cool, you can use those thin stretchable gloves. Increase the thickness of your gloves as the temperatures get cooler.

Wear sunscreen. The sun can damage the skin on your hands just as easily as it can damage the skin on your face or other parts of your body. Be sure to apply sunscreen to your hands to keep them soft and prevent them from becoming like cured leather. Rub the sunscreen into your hands as you would lotion until all of it’s absorbed into the skin.Massage your hands to increase blood circulation to the skin and make it softer. Self hand massage is also a great stress reliever. Place some lotion or even a teaspoon of olive oil on the palm of one hand.

Rub the palms together and then use the thumb of the opposite hand to massage the palm in a circular motion while keeping your fingers interlaced. Repeat with the other hand. Turn one hand over and massage from the wrist to the finger tips gently pulling on them as you finish. Use a circular motion, and then repeat with the other hand.Apply petroleum jelly to your hands before you go to bed at night. Make sure you apply a generous layer and then put on cotton gloves so you don’t make a mess of your sheets. If you don’t have cotton gloves, then cotton socks will work just fine.Rub lotion into your hands several times a day if possible.
